Published to accompany Salman Toor’s first solo museum exhibition in Europe, at the Courtauld Gallery, London, this handsome publication offers new insight into the artist’s iconic, thought-provoking and often humorous paintings. Exploring human interactions, as well as the desire and struggle to experience a sense of belonging, Salman Toor: Someone Like You (2 October 2026 – 10 January 2027) sheds fresh light on Toor’s work, addressing his manifold references and illuminating the crucial role that drawing plays in his practice as a painter.
Salman Toor is well-known for his vibrant paintings that represent people in shared moments of friendship and love, as well as experiencing solitude and alienation. The characters that populate Toor’s painting are fictional but rooted in personal experiences and memories. Toor says that his paintings ‘depict queer and immigrant lives that straddle different cultures and inhabit the tension between intimacy and exposure, belonging and estrangement. What it means to find a community, but also the daily costs associated with visibility.’
Born in Lahore, Pakistan, in 1983, Toor trained in the United States. He currently lives and works in New York. He has had major exhibitions internationally, including his acclaimed first institutional solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York (2020–21). More recently, he participated in the 60th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia (2024). The Courtauld’s exhibition will be Toor’s first solo museum show in Europe (2 October 2026 – 10 January 2027).

For UK and European orders, shipping taxes are included - the price you pay is the final price.
The USA are subject to Regular Carrier Charges, Handing Fees, Duty Payable Fee and Tariffs (COO). These are all calculated at checkout.
Where international deliveries are subject to local customs charges and fees, it will be your responsibility to pay these and they are not included in the cost of delivery.
What is the return policy?
Returns should be within 30 days from the date of purchase.
We want you to be completely happy with your purchase from us. If for whatever reason you aren’t, we do offer refunds on almost all products*, provided they are returned in the original condition and packaging.
*We cannot offer returns on our custom prints or Courtauld clothing, as they are printed to order. Returns of Courtauld Editions are non returnable.
If you are returning an undamaged order from the EU or rest of world following a change in mind, a restock fee of £15.00 will be taken off your refund once it has been returned to us.
Please note the delivery and duties for the USA are not refundable.
How do you calculate your shipping cost?

Do you offer Click and Collect?
Yes we do. We offer a Click and Collect service. You will need to choose Pick Up at checkout.
Orders can be collected within 2-4 days of placing your order.
We will keep your order for 28 days from the day it is ready for collection. After that, we will return the item(s) to stock and refund you via your original payment method.
If you are unable to pick up your order within 28 days, please email us at shop@courtauld.ac.uk to see if it is possible to extent the holding period.
